The aim of the project is to develop an MCU or SBC based software solution that controls an autonomous vehicle. The distant goal is to reach an end-to-end learning like solution. By end-to-end learning we mean that the sensors and the motors of the vehicle are “directly” connected to the neural network. The plan is that the main sensor is the camera. The applied algorithms are from the field of deep reinforcement learning, e.g., PPO. However, there are also software development tasks in this project to support the infrastructure of the algorithms. It means that some kind of sensor needs to be attached and handled. A web or app based dashboard might also be needed.

The student will work on one of the following topics:

  • Algorithm development
  • Algorithm implementation on MCU or SBC
  • Software development on MCU or SBC
  • Frontend development
  • Backend development
