Raman spectroscopy is based on the phenomenon that the wavelength of the light changes when scattered from objects. The change in the wavelength depends on the actual material. Measuring the intensity at different wavelengths gives us the spectrum of light. An example of such a spectrum can be found at: https://www.researchgate.net/figure/A-typical-Raman-light-scattering-spectrum-of-an-ASH-Si-structure-revealing-N-H-Si-F_fig4_46579103

The spectrum above can be modelled with the help of a mixture of distributions, to be more concrete, with a mixture of Gaussian and Lorentz distributions. The goal of this topic is to develop algorithms, which can identify and fit models to actual spectrums in practical applications.
