Z-ENG: Creating and monitoring an assembly line model using industrial sensors (Balluff)

The goal of this task is to solve an industrial automation problem by creating an assembly line model that simulates a certain production process. The student can use different Balluff sensors and network devices to simulate the steps of the process and monitor the product in each step. The devices used for the task include inductive sensors, photoelectric sensors, BNI Fieldbus modules, RFID sensors, optical sensors (industrial cameras), and condition monitoring sensors.
For monitoring the system, software implementation is required to read the state of the devices on the assembly line via Rest API or some other protocol. Then, the software can visualize the collected data on a web interface.
During the task, the student learns how to use the chosen sensors and network protocols. Using these methods the student designs, implements, and deploys the system, and in the end, the student tests the created system.

- learning how to use Balluff sensors and network devices,
- design and implementation of the system,
- implementation of the device control program,
- implementation of the monitoring software,
- deployment and testing of the system,
- research opportunities for further development.
