Artificial Intelligence is now a central tool in solving complex challenges across industries. From engineering and manufacturing to business, healthcare, and information systems, many domains generate large amounts of data that can be analyzed and modeled. With AI methods, this data can be turned into actionable insights, predictions, or automation solutions that improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enable innovation.

In this project students are expected to:

  • Identify a problem area within an industrial, business, IT, or engineering context,

  • Locate or collect an appropriate dataset (public, simulated, or domain-specific),

  • Define clear research questions,

  • Apply machine learning or automation techniques to address the questions, and

  • Document the findings in an academic form (with introduction, methodology, results, and discussion).

  • Predictive maintenance of machines and equipment.

  • Optimization of production processes and workflows.

  • Computer vision for defect detection or process monitoring.

  • Digital twins for modeling and simulating industrial systems.

  • Supply chain optimization and demand forecasting.

  • Natural Language Processing for analyzing reports, logs, or customer interactions.

  • Human–AI collaboration and decision-support systems.

  • AI for healthcare process automation and clinical decision support.

  • Energy forecasting and optimization for sustainable systems.

  • Fraud detection, risk analysis, or financial forecasting.

Student Responsibilities:

 

  • Select a topic and refine it into a specific research question .

  • Create/Find, clean, and prepare a dataset suitable for the task.

  • Review relevant AI/ML algorithms and justify their choice.

  • Implement and evaluate different approaches.

  • Compare results and reflect on strengths/limitations.

  • Write a structured academic paper presenting the project.
