Téma leírása
The project focuses on the modernization of Ericsson’s Internal Development Platform using contemporary Platform Engineering practices to improve developer workflow efficiency. The student will contribute to the design, implementation, and configuration phases of this modernization effort within a professional architectural unit. A core objective is the study of IDP principles to ensure the implemented solutions follow industry-standard best practices. This involves a comparative evaluation of best-fit solutions, specifically comparing GitLab Ultimate offerings with existing capabilities in the Ericsson Network production environment. The student will conduct hands-on experiments in a secure, cloud-native environment supported by standardized automation pipelines. These experiments serve as the technical foundation for future onboarding of development teams to the modernized platform at scale. Technical implementation includes the development and optimization of automated CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery. The project also emphasizes "Shift-Left" security principles by integrating vulnerability scanning directly into the DevOps process. Furthermore, the student will manage and configure cloud-native environments using container orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes. The work involves analyzing how these tools interact within a high-availability production architecture to maintain system reliability. Ultimately, the student will formalize these exploration results and implementation steps into a comprehensive technical report for evaluation.
