The aim of this thesis is to develop a mobile application that makes it easier to manage personal finances by scanning receipts and smart budgeting features. In the first semester, the student designs and implements a mobile application that provides data protection, which is able to take photos of the receipts, extract the most important data (e.g. merchant name, date, total amount, tax), and automatically categorize expenses. The performance of the system is evaluated based on the accuracy of field extraction, processing speed, reliability and user experience, with a particular emphasis on demonstrating measurable time savings compared to manual input.
In the second half of the year, the project will be expanded with predictive budgeting capabilities that will allow the system to make monthly forecasts for different spending categories. The extended system will be evaluated for the accuracy of predictions, the usefulness of recommendations, robustness and data protection. By the end of the work, the result will be a fully functional mobile application, supported by usability tests, performance evaluations and documentation demonstrating readiness for implementation.
